Our Story

Ever since I can remember, I’ve had a special place in my heart for both young children and seniors. I have such fond memories of playing with my younger cousins and grandparents during our family get-togethers. It was always such a joy to see how we made our grandparents smile and laugh.

A highlight of my childhood was going to retirement communities with my class and having the opportunity to watch the seniors’ faces light up as we entertained them with our songs and dances, and how happy they were as we spent some one-on-one time with them. It was such a heart-warming experience.

As time went on and I had my own children, we would go on monthly trips to a retirement community near our house. I wanted my kids to enjoy the same interactions that I did with seniors. Many of their young friends were uncomfortable around the elderly, but I wanted my kids to learn about empathy, compassion and respect for people of all ages and stages in life.

Fast-forward 20 years: I thought, why not combine the two populations I am so passionate about…..seniors and toddlers. It’s a win/win for everyone – including the adults who bring the children to the class!

So, that is how Tots 2 Seniors came to be!
